Born 1952 in a bridge – playing family.Every weekend his parents played rubber-bridge with neighbours, or friends, That`s why he started playing bridge as a teenager, and semi-professionally in 1970. Married, daughter is 26 and son 23 , students.
Many times in my trainers career I have seen too great expectations of players. They were anxious to jump from advanced to the expert level in short time. It is not an easy work. The secret consist in collecting a lot of small achievements in all fields of bridge play. On the way to mastery one has to make hundreds of small steps. Very few succeeded in achieving their purpose by themselves. Whatever is required it is inspirer. The proper one will lay out the task and then help in reaching it. I have marked the part for myself.
On the base of the long experience as a player as well as a trainer I have written a series of text books helping an advanced player to become a master and a talented pair to rise its pro- fessional qualification. There is a blank I want to fill and switch the energy of players in the right direction. In the job one can easy make a great mistake. It`s more than enough to assume that all have the same needs as I, or to think, that I`ll be able to anticipate those needs without questioning and listening to them. The major part of my instructions makes the answer to real demands. I have written down all remarks and questions of my “students” very carefully.
I have found pleasure and satisfaction in noticing talented players. I believe in extraordinary potential of human spirit. The great poet and dreamer J. W. Goethe said: “ Take a man accor- ding to his potential and you make him great”. Take a player like a master and you`ll make him the real one.
My books are not easy and nice to read, like almost all text books. They have to be worked over very rigorously, they force the reader to analysis. Sometimes they will only sort your knowledge. Many players are in possession of the great potential, but they make use only of fraction of their possibilities and resources.
Exposing the hidden in people around us potential, layers of ingeniousness awaiting explora- tion and curbing it`s a big art, but also great challenge for an ambitious trainer and teacher. |
